Two things wear out a phone battery, and neither is the one people worry about. The first is heat. The second is time spent sitting at a very high or very low charge. What the battery health percentage means

Both platforms show a number, usually called maximum capacity or battery health. It is an estimate of how much charge the battery can now hold compared with when it was new. It is not measured directly. A small circuit tracks current in and out, watches the voltage curve, and infers capacity from the pattern, which has three consequences worth knowing.
